DEATH OF PUBLISHER
MR. ROBERT P. SCRIPPS WIDE NEWSPAPER INTERESTS SAN DIEGO, March 4 The death has occurred aboard his yacht of Mr. Robert P. Scripps, the publisher. Mr. Scripps, who was aged 43, began his career as a newspaper reporter and correspondent. He achieved success rapidly and in 1917 was appointed editorial director of Scripps-Howard and Scripps-Mcßae Newspapers, a position he retained for many years. He was also a director of the Newspaper Information Service and the United Press Association.
