COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S VISIT RECORD BY MISS LEYDON Advice was received at a meeting of the Auckland Centre -of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association last night that the president of the New Zealand Council, Mr. F. G. Dunn, of Christchurch, would visit Auckland next Monday. A special committee was deputed to submit to Mr. Dunn suggestions for the betterment of the sport in Auckland. The Ponsonby Club requested that the centre should press for recognition by the New Zealand Council of the Dominion ladies' record of 5m 30 l-5s for 4'loyds, made at Auckland by a member, Missi Mona Leydon, on December 14 last. The centre agreed to the request. The newly-formed Rodney Club was granted permission to hold a carnival at Warkworth on March 19. It was agreed to ask city clubs to send as many swimmers as possible to the carnival. It was agreed to write to Mr. S. Walker, manager of the Canadian swimmers who competed at the British Empire Games, thanking him for the fine work done by his team and himself, in instructing schocl children at the Milford Pool during the team's stay in Auckland last week. The management committee was empowered to decide upon the date for the Auckland senior championship meeting, and instructed to arrange a particularly attractive supporting programme. The educational officer. Mr. F. W. Grey reported that it was anticipated that the issue of certificates for March would be a record, as large numbers of applications were being received from schools throughout the Auckland Province. Congratulations were extended to M. Bell, of the Eastern Suburbs Club, upon having his time for 75 yards backstroke recognised as a New Zealand junior boys' record. TE KUITI CARNIVAL. [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE KUITI, Monday About 500 people attended the swimming carnival organised by the Sports Queen's committee in the Winter Show carnival.
