RUGBY FOOTBALL
NORTHCOTE CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS The report adopted at the annual meeting of the Northcote and Birkenhead Rugby Football Club referred to the provision of permanent training quarters at Northcote. The president/ Mr. J. W. Lethbridge, who occupied the chair, said the training shed was a memorial to the work for the club of the late Mr. R. B. Brown, a foundation member and former president. A freehold section was purchased in 1030 with money from the building fund. The site in Nelson Street was selected by Air. Brown. Arrangements were made for ttib removal and rc-ereetion at Northcote of the training shed at Ellorslie belonging to the Auckland Rugby Union. The club contributed £23 toward the cost of demolition, transport and reconstruction The club's status last season was raised to senior B, this team being a particularly good ome. Repcesentative honours were gained by Williams, Grant and Townshend. The club won the third intermediate grade championship, six members of the team, Arblastcr, llendle, Davidson, Johnston, Mutton and Yaughan, gaining representative honours. This was- the second championship won by the club. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. R. A. Johnston; vice-patrons, Messrs. M. J. Walsh, W. M. Jacks, W. J. Lyon, M.P.; president, Mr. J. W. Lethbridge; committee, Messrs. J. W. Canty, A. Davis, N. S. Davidson, A. J. Hurley. F. Hendlc, G. llelhose, H. Townshend; secretary, Mr. A. M. Nicholson; treasurer, Mr. Keith M. Markwick; club captain, Mr. B. Ireland; delegates to Auckland .Rugby Union, Messrs. \. W. Millar, J. W. Fletcher, I. G. Coulilrev; delegate to Auckland Junior Boys' Management Board. Mr. lv. M. Markwick; auditor. Mr. A. E. Greenslade.
