REGISTRAR TO RETIRE
SUPREME COURT OFFICIAL MR. JULES C. MALFROY Advice of his retirement on superannuation on Juno 30, after 42 years of service in the Department of Justice, has been received by Mr. Jules Caesar Malfroy, registrar and sheriff of the Supreme Court at Auckland, and registrar and marshal of the Admiralty Court. He is 60 years of age. Mr. Malfroy was born at Hokitika and educated there. After matriculation he passed the civil service examination in 1895 and the following year secured a cadetship in the department at New Plymouth. Two years later he was transferred to the Magistrate's Court at Paeroa, and in 1900 he was appointed clerk of the Magistrate's
Court at Ahaura, West Coast. Is 1902 he was sent to fill a similar post at Hokitika. Five years afterward Mr. Malfroy was made second clerk at the Magistrate's Court at Dunedin, and subsequently at Naseby. In 1913 he became clerk to the Magistrate's and Warden's Courts at Thames. Upon his return with his regiment from England he was promoted clerk and registrar at the Supreme Court at Invercargill in 1919, and six years later he was transferred to Hamilton, where he held similar posts. Two months afterward he came to the Magistrate's Court at Auckland, and in 1935 he was promoted to the position he now holds.
