SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION
MEETING AT TE AROHA BOARD CHAIRMAN'S ADDRESS [by telegraph—own con respondent] TE AROHA, Monday Addresses on the benefits of the consolidation of schools were given by the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. T. U. Wells, and the secretary, Mr. D. W. Dunlop, to a wellattended meeting of To A roll a and district parents. Mr. J. F. Wild, chairman of the Te A roll a school committee, which called the meeting, said that many prominent residents of the district had expressed approval of tho establishment of a junior high school ill Te Arolln, and he thought that it would be a great asset to the community. Mr. Wells spoke of the benefits of consolidation in general, while pointing out that it was not the desire of the board to force consolidation on anybody. Mr. Dunlop pointed out the particular advantages of tho intermediate department or junior high school which, by offering a broad syllabus and several different courses, could sort out tho children alul train them along lines that suited them best. Mr. It. Coulter, MP. for Wrtikato, stated that it was the policy of the Government to encourage consolidation, as it felt that services to education and health should never be stinted, no matter what tho cost was.
