GAMES IN AUSTRALIA! JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS FIVE PLAYERS SUCCESSFUL (Received February 27, 7.50 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. 27 The New Zealand girl tennis players took part in the New South Wales junior championships yesterday, the results being as follows:- — Under 21.—Miss Margaret- Beverley, New Zealand, beat Miss McKay. o—o, 6; —2. Under 21.—Miss Joyce Douthett, Now Zealand. beat Miss Pivey, (>—G—I. Under 10. —Miss Kathleen Armstrong, New Zealand, beat Miss Barnes, o—3,0 —3, 6—l. Under 17. —Miss Marian Hodges, New Zealand, beat Miss Wood gate, G—3. Under 17.—Miss Bebo Wilson, New Zealand, beat Miss Jenkins, >B—o. The New Zealand girls to-day met a team from the New South Wales Miird Court Association, the results being:— Miss Pamela Cooke, New Zealand, beat Miss Coleburne, 6—3, 6—o. . Miss Kelso beat Miss Hodges, New Zealand, (J—3, B—-0. Mrs. Morgan beat Miss Armstrong, New Zealand, G —3. 7—5. * Miss Rico beat Miss Douthett. New Zealand, o—o, (3—2. . Miss M. Beverley, New Zealand, bent MIS 3 Stebbing, 6—<l, 3—<>, 7—5. Miss Wilson, New Zealand, beat Miss Prior, G—l, S—o. The doubles matches resulted:—Misses Cooke and Hodges (New Zealand) defeated Misses Coleburne and Kelso. G—3, I—G. ( j—a ; Misses Armstrong and Wilson (New Zealand) defeated Miss Prior and Mrs. Morgan, 2 —o, G—4, « —1; Misses Beverley, and Douthett (New Zealand) v. Misses Stebbing and Rice, 4—6. 7—5, unfinished owing to fading light. " . New Zealand won the match by five rubbers and 11 sets to three rubUrs and eigbt sets.

No mention is mado in the afcove results of Miss Cooke playing in the championships, so it is probable that jshe drew a bye in the first round. Judging, from the reports . of matches it appears that the under 37 competition is confined to one set only. Seeing that Miss Wilson is 10 yearg of age it is puzzling td find her name appearing in a class three years younger.
