TO-DAY'S EPSOM FIXTURE AN OUTSTANDING EXHIBITION AN event of outstanding interest to farmers throughout the j P omini . or !' the . annual show of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, will be opened to-day and will continue to-morrow, " People's Day." Built up from year to year, the show has developed into one of the premier exhibitions of airy cattle in the Dominion, and it reflects in spectacular manner the agricultural wealth of the Auckland Province. With the rapid development of North Auckland and the remarkable progress made in farming methods in the Waikato, the province reigns supreme as the most important unit contributing to the Dominion's largest export, dairy produce. It i® °nly natural that the show has increased in importance and progressed in its presentation of features, and to-day it is a striking indication of the extent to which the province has developed.

Alterations made in recent years to the grounds enable the stock to be shown to advantage, while the spectators are also afforded a splendid view of the jumping events, trotting races and the grand parade of stock. The Auckland province is renowned for its production of dairy cattle and pigs, and some of the finest pedigree dairy herds are to be found in the province. Among the exhibits at the show to-day and to-morrow will be some of the most outstanding prizewinners, and some of the best strains from other parts of the Dominion will also be represented. One of the features of the show will be the grand parade of all exhibits and competitors in other events. Every provision will be made for those who appreciate the finer points of a pedigree horse and this section will again be one of the most popular at the show. Some of the bent-known hunters in the Dominion will be entered in the jumping events, which are always a major attraction for people from the city as well as the country visitors. In addition to the essentially agricultural part of the show programme, the separate exhibitions of dogs and poultry will make the show a most comprehensive one. A great variety of amusements and entertainments will combine to lend the show a special interest which makes the event outstanding in the Dominion. With People's Day, which falls tomorrow, all sections of the community become involved. This is the most spectacular part of the show and for the amusement of the large crowd the latest innovations will be included in the wide variety of entertainments. Outstanding among the features which will be introduced this year will be the Roman chariot racing, which promises to provide spectacular thrills surpassing anything ever before presented at the show. The elimination heats will be run off to-day and the semi-finals and finals will be held to-morrow. Further interest is lent the programme by the inclusion of races for pacers and trotter*, and the appearance of well-known horses on the track
