Karaka. —The monthly meeting was presided over by Airs. Lewis. A demonstration of posy making was given by Mrs. High am. Several competitions were held, the winners being: wrinkled tomatoes, Mrs. Lardnor, 1; Mrs. Lewis, 2; Mrs. R. Wood, 3. Smooth tomatoes, Mrs. G. Wood, 1; Mrs. Tibbie, 2; Mrs. R. Wood, 3. Best bloom, Mrs. G. Wood, 1; Mrs. Tibbie, 2; Mrs. Higham, 3. Prettiest article from a Hour bag, Mrs. Costar, 1; Mrs. Lever and Mrs. Slack, equal, 2. Mrs. Costar 1 s prize for knitting, crochet, embroidery and a novelty was won by Miss Leamy. Ngahinepouri.—The monthly meeting was presided over by Mi's. J. McWhannell. Papier macho work was demonstrated by Mrs. Johnston. The competitions resulted as follow: Ginger spongo, Mrs. Fitness and Mrs. Pnlman, 1; vegetables, Mrs. Johnston; flowers, Mrs. It. Thomas. The hostesses were Mrs. Moss and Mrs. Johnston. Makarau. —The monthly meeting was held at the home of Mrs. G. I. Smith. A report on the Northern Group meeting at Helensvi'.le was given by Mrs. E. R. Dunn and Mrs. T. W. Hooper. A summary of the previous month s discussion, "Dictatorship' v. Democratic Government," was presented by Mrs. T. W. Hooper and Mrs. H. H. Hooper. A competition for articles made from one yard of material was won by Mrs. G. E. Smith with Mrs. H. Manuell second. A special prize for articles combining beauty and utility was won b.v Mrs. C. L. Hooper. Tho best bloom of the month competition was won by Mrs. W. R. Miller, with Mrs. G. I. Smith second. . Hotco North.—The monthly meeting was presided over by Mrs. Coates who gave an account of the special group meeting at Helensville. A questionnaire regarding progress reports was considered. A musical competition was won by Mrs. Caotes. and tho club prize by Mrs. Wilson. The hostesses wore Mrs. F. Harding and Mrs. Levet. Riverhead.—The monthly meeting was held recently, Mrs. Jonkers presiding. A lucky number prize was won by Mrs. Pook. The hostesses were Mrs Levy and Mrs. Horsman.
