WORK AMONG THE MAORIS [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Methodist Church annual conference considered reports on mission work the Dominion. The report on Maori mission work referred to the increase in the Maori population, and recommended a new emphasis on mission work. The liquor problem remained acute, and thero was need, for a stiffening of the forces working against it. The report stated there was a shortage of Maori students for tho ministry and funds were needed to enable students to take the course. Resolutions were passed asking for strict enforcement of the liquor laws relating to the supply of liquor to Maoris and approving of co-operntion with other churches in efforts to check tho illegal supply of liquor.
