NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP Ajax is considered unlikely to meet Hua and Avenger in the St. Legers and he will probably race over shorter distances, state an exchange.
It is stated in Wellington that the next Racing Conference meeting in July wiil give further consideration to the subject of minimum weights.
Prince Mujla; a four-year-old halfbrother by Mullaboden to Myrian, has been sold by B. Burgess and will resume racing at Woodville to-day in the colours of Mrs. W. EL. Richards, No.rsewood.
Pagoda, a three-year-old gelding hy Paper Money from Kilris, broke a leg while working at Riccarton and was destroyed. Ho was owned by his breeder. Mr. W. Baxter, and trained by C. Emerson.
The brillinnt threoyear-old Courtcraft is doing well in his work at Woodvillo and it is expected that lie will make his next appearance in the Waihou Handicap at Te Aroha next week. Another trip to Sydney is in view for Courtcrnft, and ho will probably leavo alter competing at irentham next month.
Mr. A. S. McKay bought Master Anomaly prior to the Southland summer meeting for £SO. Ho was unlucky in having a good winning chance spoiled by his rider losing an iron at that meeting, but after his two successes at Dunodin be must bo considered, a cheap horse, for his winning stakes totalled £2BO. He is 10 years old.
Making his first appearance over a middle distance, Francis Drake was responsible for most of the fast pace set in' the Egmont Cup, eventually finishing fifth. Over a furlong shorter in the Tonka Stakes on the second day the Chief Ruler three-year-old went an improved race to finish third to Lowenberg and Red Sand. Engaged in the Woodville Handicap to-day, Francis Drake should be in forward condition to show whether he has any real pretension? t»s a stayer.
