SUMMER SHOWS

•franklin fixture record for the society SPLENDID ENTRY OF STOCK LARGE INDOORS SECTION [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday ft Tho Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society's 53rd annual show, at Pukekohe, which opened in fine •weather to-day,' is the largest in tho history of the society, the entries having exceeded 3000. There were very low absentees and the display of livestock is approaching Royal Show standard in its quality and comprehensive nature. < The horses include some of the best in the Dominion, and all tho dairy breeds of cattle aro exceptionally well represented. They demonstrate the high pitch to which careful study and policy in breeding can bring tho herds. In the Berkshire pigs on show is a champion boar, the equal of which is probably not to be found elsewhore in the Dominion.

A magnificent display of flowers is a feature of the indoors section, which is a very large one, excellently arranged. In the school work, an exhibition by the Pukekohe Technical High School proved a particular attraction to-day. The fruit and produce entries embrace the finest quality seen at the show in recent years. First prize in the district courts competition was won by the Pukekohe Women's Institute. In a first-class programme for tomorrow, People's 'Day, a i\e\v feature will be the judging of the Calf Club classes, in which the entries are very heavy.
