Thursday Torrential rain which fell at Waitomo last night and for the greater part of to-day caused a rise of about 14 feet above the normal level of the Stream which runs through the wellknown glow-worm cave. As a result, difficulty was experienced in manoeuvring the boat which takes \isitors through the cave, as in many places there was only a small space between the roof and the surface of the water. In the afternoon the water was still rising at a rate estimated at an inch every hour, but the rain ceased later in the day.
