GENERALLY- CLOUDY
RAIN IN MOST PLACES The weather report and forecast hi New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as foI- •» lows:—Pressure is low over most 0 f the Tasman Sea and New Zealand area where a series of westerly depressions' ? continues to pass. There has been sonie fc rise of pressure, however, over southeastern Australia. The forecast is for variable winds, with north-west to south-west predominating, light to moderate mainly, lout freshening'at' times in exposed positions. Seas for most part slight to moderate, but rising at times in the Cook and Toveaux Straits areas. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate north-westerly wind? prevailing at first, but turning later to south-west; seas moderate. The weather is likely to be still generally cloudy, warm and sultry with rait at times in most districts, but more especially in the western and southern areas, becoming rather cooler to- i morrow in the south.
SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST

The Government meteorologist issued to the Her.w.d last evening the follow. :ing special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to fresh west to south-westerly winds predominating. The weather is likelv to be changeable and with occasional showers in niost places, but improving somewhat. Temperatures still warm. Seas slight to moderate.
WEEK-END WEATHER Heavy rain fell on Saturday morning and there was a fresh north-easterlv wind. In the afternoon the showers were more, scattered, but there was further heavy rain at night. Yesterday morning the sky was overcast and the wjnQ turned to the west. The afternoon was beautifully sunny with a moderate westerly wind. The maximum temperature over the- week-end was 84 decrees and thft minimum 69 degrees. The barometer was remarkablv steady on both days, but showed a rising tendency last night. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 29.88!n. Midnight, Saturday .. 29.90 in.
Wellington.—Saturday was dull and overcast with intermittent rain whilo .;t light northerly wind prevailed. There was some improvement in the afternoon and evening, but light rain fell about 4 p.m. The maximum temperature was 70.4 degrees, and the minimum on Saturday night, was 61.8 degrees. Sunday was dull and misty with intermittent rain. A fresh north-west-erly wind prevailed, decreasing in the afternoon. The maximum temperature up to 3 p.m. was 68 degrees.
Christchurch.—Except for a -brief shower shortly before 9 o'clock yesterday morning, the'week-end was gloriously fine and warm. The heat of Saturday when the maximum temperature was 77.9 degrees was tempered by a light north-easterly breeze in the afternoon. After a" humid morning yesterday the sky cleared and the afternoon was warm and sunny with a northwesterly wind". The barometer at 5 p.m. •; tvas steady at 29.75 in. Dunedin.—Perfect summer weather?, was experienced over the week-end. The isun shone for practically 10 hours on -. Saturday when the mnxi&um temperature was 83 degrees.
