DUAL CUP WINNER

SERGIA'S LATEST SUCCESSES

lii winning both the Tnranaki and Eginorit Cups in the same year Sergia performed a feat that has been by no means unusual. The races arc generally run with only a week between them, and victory in the one event has many times been repeated in the other. Hack in 1904 and 1905 Convoy and Paritutu respectively took the double, but it was not till 14 years later that Altcrnlow achieved tho sumo distinction in 1939. -Since Afterglow'# year no less than eight, other horses have won the double, these being Kick Off (1923) Stork (1925), Piuthair (1927), H.ynanna (1928), Yonia (1929), Arikira (1932), Aussie Ila (1936) and Sergia (this year).
