MEMORIAL TO AIRMEN THE HERALD'S APPEAL FUND TO CLOSE ON SATURDAY The keen interest taken by the people of the Auckland Province in tho work of the Lite Captain Edwin Musick and his six companions and tho sympathy which was felt at the loss of these men who gave their lives for the cause of international transport, when the Sarnoan Clipper met .with disaster has been shown in response to the appeal by the New Zealand Herald for funds to establish a suitable memorial. The object of tho fund is the provision of soino enduring reminder to future generations of tlu> supreme sacrifice made by Captain Musick and his men. The fund has now reached a total of over £250 and it has been decided to bring it to a close next Saturday. The form which the memorial will take is to be "decided by a. committee comprising thfe Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest' Davis, the chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, the Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., and Mr. Harold Gatty, special representative in New Zealand and Australia for Pan American Airways. This committee is to mept next week to consider the utilisation of the fund. The subscription list will be open at the Herald office during business hours until the end of this week.
