WEDDINGS
BOLLARD—HUTCHISON The wedding took place at St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral on Thursday evening of Mizpah Annie, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hutchison. Remuera Road, Remuera, and Mr. Harold Francis Bollard, younger son of Mrs. R. F. Bollard and the late Hon. R. F Bollard, of Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. M. Cowie, of Wellington, assisted by Canon R. L. Connolly. In attendance on the bride were Miss Ela Hutchison and Miss Althea Morley, and the bridegroom was attended by Mr. Hector Burns, of Wellington, as best man, and Mr. Rex Marriott as groomsman.
The church had been charmingly decorated with flowers in a rainbow scheme of colouring to match the flowers carried by the bridal party. The ushers Ave re Messrs. J. Marriott, Stewart Foot and Jock Hutchison. The bride, who was given away by ber father, wore a very graceful gown of embossed ivory satin fashioned on Empire lines and falling into a fully flared trained skirt. The sleeves, full at the shoulders and fitting closely from elbow to wrist, ended in petal points and the corsage was finished at the back with a long row of loops and tiny buttons. A large flower of white organza and silver lame was worn. The long veil of French embroidered net lent by the bridegroom's mother was arranged on the head to form a Mary Stuart cap and she earned a bouquet of tuberoses and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids wore frocks of green and mauve chiffon respectively. Cut rather high at the waist, they were made with the neckline and yoke of gold lame and the sleeves, which were full at the shoulders, fitted closely at elbow and wrist. Taffetas flowers with gold stamens and petals were worn on the corsage, and on their heads they wore Gainsborough hats of stiffened net to match their frocks, trimmed with velvet ribbons falling to the end of their frocks. They carried bouquets in rainbow shades.
At the reception, which was held by Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hutchison at their home in Remuera Road, the guests were received by Mr. Hutchison and Miss B. Hutchison, assisted by Mrs. G. G. Marriott. Miss Hutchison wore a frock of black lace with corsage spray of autumn shaded flowers and black hat. Sirs. R. F. Bollard was in black georgette and lace with pink relief and black hat. Her bouquet was of mauve and pink sweet peas. Mrs. G. G. Marriott Avat; in midnight blue lace with petunia, shaded sash, a corsage spray in the same shade, and a black hat. Her bouquet was of blue delphiniums. Relatives present included:—Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, Mrs. M. R. Aldridge, Mrs. J. Bollard, Miss Erica Bollard, Miss Meudail Hutchison, Miss Muriel Bollard and Miss K. Bennett.
HUTCHINSON—RICKIT Two of the oldest families of the Te Awamutu district were united by the marriage of Aroha Avis, onlv daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Rickit, Alexandra Street, Te Awamutu, and Russell Atkinson, only son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. B. Hutchinson, of Parawera. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Steele, cousin of the bridegroom, and the Rev. Martin Sullivan, vicar of Te Awamutu. St. John's Church was attractively decorated by friends of the bride. Mrs. Sullivan played the wedding music. The ushers were Messrs. D. Abbott and J. G. Wynyard, jun. In "attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Edna House (Hamilton), Miss Margaret Storey (Te AAvamutu), and Miss Barbara Sleddon (Auckland). Mr. Andrew Sutherland was best man and Mr. Douglas Hooper and Mr. Cyril Rickit, brother of the bride, Avere the groomsmen.
THOMSON—BAIGENT St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday afternoon, when Mavis, twin daughter of Mrs. A. M. Baigent, of King George Avenue, and the late Mr. L. O. Baigent, of Whangarei, Avas married to Alan Duncan, third son of Mr. "and Mrs. W. J. A. Thomson, of St. Andrew's Road, Epsom. The bride, avlio Avas given away by her brother, wore a trained frock of iA T ory lace. A veil of appliqued tulle was Avorn Avith a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of liluiin auratum. The two bridesmaids, Miss Cesca Baigent, sister of the bride, and Miss Joan Thomson, sister of the bridegroom, Avere dressed alike in pink silk spotted net redingotes over taffetas of the same shade. They carried bouquets of pink gladioli and cornflowers and Avore bandeaux to tone.
The bridegroom Avas attended by Mr. John Thomson as best man and Mr. Alan Ball as groomsman. At the reception, held in the Mount Eden Iviosk, Mrs. Baigent received her guests wearing a black redingote over a frock of floral georgette and carried an autumn-tinted posy. Mrs. Thomson, mother of the bridegroomj was in a frock of floral georgette with a black lace coat and carried a bouquet of cerise carnations and fuchsias. The bride and bridegroom Have left for the South, the bride wearing a navy coat Avith floral frock and navy accessories.
