WAITAKI RIVER DAM
LECTURE TO ENGINEERS A lantern lecture on the construction of the dam across the Waitaki River for the generation of hydroelectric power for Canterbury ' and Otago was given last night at the annual meeting of the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers by the engineer in charge of the construction, Mr. P. H. Paekwood, now district engineer of the Public Works Department at Whangarei. The following officers were elected for the year:—Chairman, Mr. W, S. Home; city members, Messrs. A. D. Mead, A. J. Dickson, N. L. Yiokerman; countrv members, Messrs. B. H. Horner, P. 17. Paekwood, P. Worlev; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. T. Murray; honorary auditor, Mr. F. E. Powell.
