INDICTABLE CHARGES

POLICE COURT HEARINGS Pleading guilty to two charges of unlawfully carnally knowing girls over the age of 12 and under tho age of 16, Albert Graham Fookes, retired bank official, married, aged 63 (Mr. Goldstine), appeared in the Police Court before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday. Tho offences were alleged to have been committed about April 18 and about December 18, 1937. After tho hearing of tho evidence of the two girls concerned, accused was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence. A painter, Ernest Grant, aged 69, was charged with indecently assaulting a boy aged 14, at Auckland, on May 3, 1937, and indecently assaulting the same boy and committing an unnatural offence at Russell on January 7, 1937. Accused pleaded guilty to all charges and was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
