SYDNEY CELEBRATES BIG MILITARY REVIEW SPECTACLE IN EVENING SCENE ON HARBOUR By - Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received January 30, f>.s p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 3 The principal event of the 150 th anniversary celebrations yesterday was a great military review at Centennial Park, 6500 men of all arms participating. The salute in the march past was taken by the Governor-General, Lord Gowrie. Among those in the official stand were Viscount Gal way and the State governors.
The moso brilliant and picturesque function in connection with the celebrations was the Venetian carnival helcl on the harbour last uipht. Pleasantly warm and with no moon, ; 'e night was ideally suited to the play of brilliantly coloured fireworks. Searchlights • were played from the many warships in port. All the harbour vantage points were thronged with people and many ferryboats carried spectators round the harbour to view the fascinating decorations.
