GOOD STANDARD IN B GRADE MATUSCHKA DEFEATS ALLEN Matuschka and Allen gave a hardhitting display in the men's B grade final. Decided at tho same time as the senior event, it did not receive the notice it really deserved. Allen played finely to take the second set and square the match, but in the final set. with Allen's power of service ceasing to govern the issue, Matuschka's steadiness carried him through, although he could never afford to lot up. In the final of the ladies' B L'rnde singles Miss B. Cooke defeated Mi<«s M. Symes in a close two-set match. Both have well-produced strokes, hut Miss Cooke's volleying ability eventually swung the balance in her favour. Miss Symes staged a plucky recovery from 1-4 down to 4-all in the second set before she was finally subdued.
