SHOPLIFTING OFFENCES
DUNEDIN WOMEN CHARGED TWO WEEKS' IMPRISONMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] DUNEDIN,' Friday Described by the polico as accomplished shoplifters, Clara Bridget l'rendergast, an elderly woman, and Ethel Barron, a married woman, aged 42, were sentenced by Mr. H. W; Bundle, S.M., to 14 days' imprisonment and were also admitted to probation for two years for a series of thefts from city stores over a lengthy period. Chief-Detective Young said Prendergast had said that she and Barron had been stealing from shops for over three years and that her home was used as a clearing depot for sale by Barron, who had formed a circle of regular customers.
