NARROW NECK BEACH MAN FINED £l BY MAGISTRATE Allegations of bathing in the nude on the beach at Narrow Neck on December 10, contrary to the by-laws of the Devonport Borough, were made in a chargo against Bryan Alwyne Collin (Mr. Rogers), in tho Police Court yesterday. Defendant did not appear. " A man walking along tho beach saw defendant swimming in a nude condition and later leave the water and lie on tho beach," said Senior-Sergeant Cahvell. " The time was 11 a.m., but there is no proof that defendant was seen by any other persons." When interviewed by the police, Mr. Cahvell added, defendant admitted actually being on the beach without any bathing costume. He said the placo was a very secluded one, and he did not think he was doing any harm. Counsel said defendant wore trunks whilo bathing, but had removed these to dress while complainant was passi°K- " Ono never knows when a telescope may bo trained on bathers," said the magistrate, Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, in stressing the need for bathing regulations being observed. Defendant was fined £1 and costs, 13s.
