BUTTER IN LONDON

DULLNESS ON MARKET a CANADA'S IMPORTS SHIPMENTS TO GERMANY Dull conditions prevailed on the London market for New Zealand buttur at the close of last week. The price for salted butter was 109s to 110s per cwt., and for unsalted from 112s to 114s. The retail price for New Zeal&nd butter was unchanged at Is 2d per lb. Factors which might have some influence iir brightening the market include the decision of tho Canadian Government to import 20,00Q boxes of Australian butter. Canada had not found it necessary to import butter for some time, but local requirements have made it necessary, at least as a temporary measure, the position to bo reviewed at tho end of a month. Another factor which might result in reducing supplies at London, and ao affecting the price, is provided by further shipments to Germany, wljich are stated by the Australian .Dairy Produce Board to be contemplated by New Zer.land. By arrangement with the Primary Products Marketing Department, tho New Zealand Dairy Board supplies the following information for the week ended January 22, figures for the previous week being given in parentheses :
