HAMILTON REGATTA
ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME RECORD ROWING ENTRIES [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday For many years the Hamilton Anniversary Day regatta has been one of the principal aquatic attractions of the Auckland Province. This year's regatta will be held on Saturday and the principal feature of tho programme will bo the rowing events, for which exceptionally largo entries have been received. There are 14 entries in the maiden fours race, and the event will be run in heats. Several eight-oar races are also included in tho programme, five entries having been received. In the senior four event, tho Auckland provincial title will bo contested. A troupe of 20 Maoris from Whatawhata will contribute poi dances and hakas and several new features which they have been practising. An outboard motor race will also bo run, and there will be aquaplaning displays. A programme of Highland dancing has been arranged by the South Auckland Caledonian Society, while the annual competitions of tho St. John Ambulance Association will be held. Races for children and numerous sideshows arc included in the day's attractions. Hot water will bo supplied free, and a icfrcshinent booth will bo conducted by a ladies' committee. The regatta may bo seen from Ferry Bank or Memorial Park, Hamilton, two beautiful areas on either side of the Waikato River, A running commentary on tho races will bo broadcast from the launch Taniwha. The regatta will afford visitdrs an opportunity to enjoy a delightful picnic amid picturesque surroundings. Special trains are being run for the regatta.
