FIRES ON WARSHIPS

SUSPICION OF SABOTAGE LONDON, Jan. 18 The naval correspondent of the Daily Mail says sabotage is suspected in connection with the fire in a hangar on board the cruiser Birmingham at the Portsmouth dockyard on January 15, owing to the discovery of some oilsoaked cotton waste in the wing of a seaplane in the hangar. Fire broke out in the starboard hangar of the Birmingham on January 2, and shavings were found burning in the mine-sweeper Hebe on January 5.
