ANNUAL REGATTA
ANNIVERSARY FIXTURE RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED RAINBOW A COMPETITOR Entries for the Auckland Anniversary Regatta, to be hold on Saturday, January 29, closed last evening. The total entries for the regatta are 259, comprised of 211 from yachts and naval sailing whalers and 18 from power craft. There is a decrease in the entries for power-boats, but owners of yachts have entered in such large numbers that tin/ total entries constitute a record for the regatta. In addition, a largo number of post entries is expected to be received in the race for the midget sailing dinghy class and also about 20 entries in the contest for seine net fishing power-boats. Owing to a' number of thcßC vessels being out of, port, the closing of onirics has been extended until noon tomorrow.
The committee agreed last evening: to place' an extra race on tho programme for O class yachls, providing: there are at least six entries, and it is anticipated that tho required number will be received. In tho race for :ilift Oin Z class boats no fewer than 32 entries have been received. Twenty-seven boats have been accounted for in the race for the lift Y class, and these will compete for the Savory Cup. The 18ft entrants in class V are represented by 23 craft, and class L . (22fV.) by 17 boats. A new record is ulso creat&il in the race for A class keel yachts, no lower than 15 of Auckland's fastest cruisers having entered for tho Heather Cup contest. Among the competitors is Rainbow, recently purchased by Messrs. Cloko and Patrick. This yacht, has not raced for many years past. Following are the entries:—
