CRICKET IN SYDNEY
SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH BRADMAN AS WICKET-KEEPER (Received January 17, 9.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 17 In the Sheffield Shield cricket match against South Australia to-day New South Wales in the first innings scored 295 runs (Chipperfield 31, Jackson 63, Mair 39, O'Reilly 20). Williams.took three wickets for 92, Ward four for 61, Grimmett two for 50. South Australia, in the second innings, had made 11 for no wickets when rain stopped play. The South Australian wicket-keeper, Walker, had broken a finger, so Bradman substituted for him. He stumped O'Reilly to the amusement of the spectators.
