ROWING

NIXON CUP EVENT INTER-CLUB RACE TO-MORROW The annpal Nixon Cup inter-club fours race, to be held in conjunction with the Tamaki Yacht Club's regatta, will be the main rowing event on the Auckland Harbour to-morrow afternoon. To be decided in practice clinker boats over a mile course from the vessel Nucula's anchprage to the Tamaki Club's boathouse, the contest is timed to commence at 3 p.m. Crews representing all the local clubs are expected to compete. Mr. A. C. Norden will be starter and umpire. Apart from the Nixon Cup race all clubs will conduct full programmes. The rivalry between Waitemata and Auckland, the two leading city clubs, should provide excellent rowing. The aggressive tactics of Auckland's members will be seen in the club's trial fci:rs- for the Pfister trophies, while Waitennta's representatives will compete for trophies donated by Mr. F. H. Bishop. The St. George's Club has arranged trials for the Thomas Cup. Eights will appear for the first time this season at West End, where subscription trials will be rowed. University has not set down any special competitions, but it is likely that subscription fours will be decided, while similar races may be contested by the North Shore Club.
