SKILLED CARPENTERS
SHORTAGE AT TE AWAMUTU [FROM OUll OWN correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Thursday Work on some of the largo buildings at present being erected in To Awamutu is being seriously retarded owing to the shortage of skilled carpenters, It has been noticed that numbers of men working on the buildings before Christmas have not returned since the holidays. The reason for this, according to one local contractor who is short of labour, is explained by the fact that the tradesvien preferred to seek work near the seaside during the summer months. Work being plentiful in all directions they have no difficulty in securing such iobs.
