PUBLIC BEQUESTS

MR. B. M. V. ABBOTT'S WILL HELP TO GOOD CAUSES INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND Specific bequests amounting to £1350 to various Auckland benevolent causes are provided for in the will of the late Mr. R. M. V: Abbott, of St. Heliers, whose death occurred on January 4. The chief beneficiary is the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, which is to receive, in addition to a legacy of £SOO, the residue of thp estate after certain specific legacies and payments have been satisfied.

The following are the charitable bequests made by the will:—New Zealand Institute for the Blind, £500; Navy League (Auckland branch), £100; Victoria League (Auckland branch), £100; Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, £100; Community Sunshine Association (Auckland), £100; Young Men's Christian Association (Auckland), £100; Young Women's Christian Association (Auckland), £100; Boy Scouts' Association (Auckland), £100; Girl Guides' Association (Auckland), £100; New Zealand Crippled Children's Fund, £SO. The New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, is appointed under the will to be deceased's executor and trustee.

Mr. Abbott was a school teacher in New Zealand, Australia and England before the Great War. He was wounded at Passchendaele, and his injuries were such that he was never able to resume his profession after the war.
