NEW CARGO VESSEL

WAITAKARURU TRADE A further addition to Auckland's fleet of coastal vessels, the Wairuru, was launched at the yards of the builders, Messrs. C. Bailey and Son, Beaumont Street, yesterday afternoon. The Wairuru is to replace the Heda, which has traded in the service of A. G. Bertram and Company from Auckland to Waitakaruru for a number of years. Equipped with a Fairbanks Morse Diesel engine of 38 horse power, the Wairuru has a length of 55ft., a beam of 15ft., and will carry 50 tons of cargo when drawing three feet of water. The vessel's shallow draught will be of great advantage in negotiating the tidal waters of the Waitakaruru River. The vessel is of three-skin diagonal build, the hull being-paintedidark.grey. ■
