CHARGE AGAINST MAORI
[by telegraph—OWN correspondent] PAEROA, Wednesday A house occupied by Fong Len, a market gardener in the old Te Aroha Road, was broken into on Monday morning, the intruder making an entry by using a tyre lover. A leather bag was cut open and money, postal notes and a cheque, amounting in all to £46, were taken, the cash totalling £34 6s 7(1. The police yesterday arrested a Maori labourer, Kara Hirawani, aged 25, an employee at the gardens. He was charged in the Paeroa Police Court this morning with breaking into Fong's house and committing theft, and wag remanded in custody until l<riday.
