BOOKMAKER FINED £ls

PROSECUTION AT CAMBRIDGE [from OUIt own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday Charged with carrying on the business of n bookmaker in Cambridge, Francis Vernon Higgins, appeared in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. S. L. Patcrson, ' S.M., yesterday. He pleaded guilty. Detective J. Thompson stated that he interviewed Higgins on January 1, when he admitted that he had been bookmaking for the past twelve months. In a statement made to the police, Higgins said his activities wore mainly confined to a billiard room, and he was working on commission. Accused was convicted and fined £ls and costs.
