ORATORY BRILLIANT FIVE WITH LAUGHING LASS THfe BUZZER GOES SOUNDLY [BY Ti;i,i:CiltAl'H —OWN correspondent] PALMEHSTOX NORTH, Tuesday The (lags were out about 50 feet on the course proper at Awapuni this morning und the going was good. A brilliant five furlongs by Oratory und Laughing Lass was a feature of the work and oilier good trials were registered by Surmount, Wildflower, Lady Jna and the Buzzer, who pleased h:is Wellington Cup admirers by holding The Bigot comfortably over seven furlongs. 'lho Buzzer (Howe) and The Bigot (Tattersall), after running the first half-mile in 535, completed seven furlongs in 1.34 4-5. Tho Buzzer 'had the measure of The Bigot all the way up the straight and could have recorded much better time. The Bigot is not working with as much dash as he was before Christmas. Oratory (Tattersall) began a little quicker than Laughing Lass (Howe), and, after running the first three in 37is, was a neck in front at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. It was an excellent gallop on tho outside of the course proper. With Oratory and Laughing Lass, L. G. Morris has a strong bracket for the Telegraph Handicap at Trentham. Oratory has improved with her races at Ellerslie. Great Hope Improved
Erebus was under a good hold whilo running tho last two of five furlongs in 20 2-ss. He has built up considerably in the past few weeks. Copy Cat (Chaplin) led Great Hope (Tattersall) early, but the latter was easing up to finish a length in front at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 2-5. Great Hope has improved vastly and may trouble the open class horses at Ashhurst.
Round Score ran six furlongs under restraint in 1.22. Ho is in perfect ordct for racing at Trentham. Silver River went sluggishly while following Royal Choice (Tattersall) over seven furlongs in 1.36. Royal Choice went well. Silver River docs better in his races than on the track.
Bodyline (Little) dashed over half a mile in 525, coming home well to cover the linal two furlongs in 255. He has freshened up since the holidays. Catalogue (Little), after going slowly over the first half-mile in 55 2-5, finished very determinedly to complete seven furlongs in 1.35. He will probably contest the Anniversary Handicap at Trentham on Tuesday. Brazil Pleases Again Aero Lad rati five furlongs in 1.8 2-5. He is a Gainscourt three-year-old in J. P. Coyle's stable. Dunmanway went leisurely five furlongs in 1.10. Aurora's Love was keen to go faster while covering five furlongs in I.IIJ. The Pornbaj Episode colt Brazil (Little) again pleased by shading Sudan (Tattersall) over half a mile in 535, after running the first two furlongs in 26 3-oSi Ho. is on the upgrade. Sudan appeared to be improved by her gallop on Saturday, but is still a trifle backward.
Merry Ruler ran the last three of four furlongs in 40s. Warohi showed that lie has improved by galloping seven furlongs with King's Lancer in 1.36 1-5, tho first half-mile in 545.
Morryman jumped away smartly and led Vadanoe over five furlongs in 1.6 2-5, the: first two in 275. Old Surrey was given a working gallop over seven furlongs, quickening over the last three furlongs in 40 3-ss. Ho pulled up well. Noisy Night was under restraint while running half a mile in 53 1-os. Ho is one of the most improved hacks at Awapuni. Surmount Goes Well Surmount (Tattersall) jumped smartly away and' was soon clear of Aria (Chaplin) to move in good style over half a mile in 51 3-5. His raco at Marton has sharpened him up. Bluffer (Johnston) and Conveyor (Little) ran six furlongs in 1.21 2-5, the first half-mile in 53 l-ss.
The Cape Horn gelding in L. Knapp's stable and Taillight ran two furlongs in 275. Wildflower (Brown) was responsible for a smart effort in just shading Lady . Ina (France) over six furlongs in 1.19, running the first three in 38 4-ss. It was a good gallop and showed that they have gone on the right way since the Marton meeting. . After the breakfast interval, Florence Mills (Johnston) ran smoothly over five furlongs in 1.5J-. Her stablemate Quadroon made similar time over the same journey. Florence Mills and Quadroon both look well.
TE AROHA ACTIVITIES MAZIR'S GOOD RECOVERY [by telegraph—own correspondent] TE AROHA, Tuesday The course, proper was open for work at Te Aroha this morning, A two-year-old filly by Philamer and Star Vaal skipped over three furlongs in 395, finishing together. An unnamed Raceful gelding and Long Span covered half a mile in 52 l-ss. Mazir, who is now recovering from the effects of a severe rick sustained at Te Awamutu, worked at half pace, sprinting home . three furlongs in 425. Galloping Acre ran a mile at three.quarter pace. King Musk, who is showing improved condition as a result of his Ellerslie efforts, covered four furlongs in 545. - A.vnho went once- round,, dashing home from the top of the straight. Black Musk was allotted slow work on the plough.
