BEQUEST : FROM BRITAIN [from our own correspondent] LONDON, Dec. 23 Under the will of the late Rer* Charles William Wakefield, of Kirkoswald vicarage. Penrith, the General Synod of the Church of the Province of New Zealand will eventually benefit to the extent of £IOOO. Mr. Wakefield left estate of the gross value of £24,281. He made 1, bequests of property in New Zealand to his wife for life, and then upon trust to his sister, Angela Mary Wakefield, with the remainder to his nephew. Edward Roger Wakefield. After making other bequests, he left the residue of his property to his wife and sister for life, with provision that it should subsequently be divided among a large number of religious and charitable institutions. The £IOOO left to tKe Church in New Zealand is the largest of these sums.
