COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS
PROGRESS OF THE CLUB INCREASE IN EXPENSES A year of continued progress is revealed in the annual report and financial statement of the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association and Club, to bo presented at the 36th annual meeting on January 21. In spite of increased overhead expenses, the figures for the year ended November .'lO show a net profit of £533 on the year's operations. It is pointed out that the wages bill increased by approximately £670 over tho previous year's figure. Association membership increased by 90 to 922, and club membership by 42 to 234. Social functions hold during tho year had been well patronised, and at the. annual golf tournament held at the North Shore golf links over 160 members attended. The choir conducted by Mr. W. Henderson, in the absence of j\lr. H. Woollev, had a lyost successful season, and several broadcasts and concerts, including one at tho Auckland Infirmary, were given. Claims on the mortuary benefit fund during the year amounted to £591, and the fund now stands at £16,511. J3lintl soldiers and their dependants were assisted during the year to the extent of £560, and insurance claims paid to Auckland members amounted to £515 Increases had been shown in the returns from both tho bar and dining room departments, tho profit from tho latter source being double the previous year's figure. Mention also is made in tho report of a house to house drive conducted at the request of the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, on behalf of tho King George V. Memorial Fund. Tho net result of the collection was £SBO.
