DISTRICT NURSING
PROPOSED TUAKAU SERVICIE WAIKATO BOARD'S ATTITUDE [FROM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT] TUAKAU, Tuesday The Auckland Hospital Board recently asked for the Tuakau Town Board's views on the question of stationing a district nurse ati Tuakau, and members agreed that it would be an advantage. However, it was decided that as Tuakau was the nearest centre for the northern portion of Raglan and that as most of the nursed time was likely to be occupied with calls from residents in the county, the question of the Waikato board contributing toward the cost should be mentioned to the County Council. The council, replied last evening that the Town Board's letter had been handed to the county chairman, Mr. H. W. Wilson, who had brought it up at a meeting of the .Hospital Board. The hoard had taken no action. That indicated that., the Hospital Board was not prepared to negotiate with the Auckland board on the matter, commented the chairman of the Town Board, Mr. G. Arrowsmith. He said that under the circumstances, anyone in the county requiring the services of the nurse would virtually have no claim. The meeting instructed the town clerk, Mr. M. 11. D. McGahan, to in- - quire from the Aucklandi Hospital Board what further steps had wen taken toward the appointment or ( » nutfle-to Tnakau.
