CYCLIST KILLED
COLLISION WITH CAR RETIRED SCHOOL TEACHER DOMINION ROAD ACCIDENT Injuries which-resulted in his death about four hours later in the Auckland Hospital were suffered by Mr. Albert William Hyde, aged 61, married, a retired school teacher, of 24 Kenneth. Avenue, Mount Albert, when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a motor-car at tbe intersection of Dominion Road and Burnley Terrace shortly before 6.30 Inst evening. The car was driven by Mr. W. P. Bark, of 213 Balmoral Road. Balmoral. The cyclo was caught in 'the front bumper of tlio car and Mr. Hyde was thrown over the radiator, his head striking the windscreen, the left half of which was knocked out of the frame. Mr. Hyde's injuries included laceration of the scalp and a fracture of tho skull. A St. John ambulance was quickly on the sceno and the injured man was taken in a critical condition to the Auckland Hospital, where his death occurred at 9.30 p.m. Some difficulty was experienced by the police and hospital authorities in identifying the injured man, but the registration number of his bicycle provided a means of tracing him. The accident occurred at a time when Dominion Road traffic was at its peak and a large crowd assembled, biit no one on the scene was able to identify Miv. Hyde. The accident caused a temporary delay to motor and tram traffic.
