The weather is likely to bo cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain in the western and southern districts of the South Island,' elsewhere fair to fine but later some showers developing in Taranaki. Temperatures warm, especially in the east- ■ cm areaa. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FINE AND WARMER The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkrat.d last evening the followine special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate northeasterly to northerly winds. The weather is likely to be fair to fine and warmer. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine, sunny weather with a moderate wind from the south was experienced yesterday. The maximum temperature was. 76 degrees and the minimum was 58 degrees. Barometric pressure continued to rise. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30,33 in. Midnight, Monday .. 30.20 in. Wellington.—Fair to fine weather with a moderate to strong northerly wind prevailed. The minimum temperature on Monday night was 52.7 degrees and the maximum yesterday 65.8 (Jegrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer stood at 30.19 in. Christchurch. —The weather was fine but for the most part overcast with a light north-west wind. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees. The barometer fell slightly and registered 30.02 in. at 5 p.m.

Dunedin. —Early in the morning the sky was overcast, but conditions improved later and the day was hot. Clouds again appeared, however, and in the afternoon rain fell fairly steadily. Temperatures became nuicli cooler after a maxim tim of 81 degrees had been reached. The barometer after foiling slightly in the morning rose sharply in the afternoon to SO.lOin.
