BOY LOST IN BUSH

[BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NAPIER, Monday By following the tracks of a deer, a 12-year-old boy, George Fiveash, who had been lost in dense bush" for 24 hours in the vicinity of Tarawera, on the Napier-Taupo road, came out into open country, and was returned to his family yesterday morning. On Saturday morning Mr. and Mrs. ' Frederick George Fiveash, of« Te Haroto, took their Bon George with them in search of moss. They reached a point where the bush was only about two chains away from the roadside, arid when they had collected a bag- full of moss they sent the bov with a load% their motor-car, which was standing on the main road. The bov, however, failed, to return," and after waiting for a time his parents set out to look for him, but he had disappeared completely. Search parties of about 40 men from neighbouring sawmills and a Publio "Works Department camp scoured the bush until nightfall in the vicinity where the missing boy was last seen, but without avail. Shortly after ten o'clock yesterday morning, however, he came out of the bush five miles away from where he had disappeared. He. was - unharmed, except for a. thorough eoaki ing from, rain.
The boy stated that he had wandered in the bush until he reached * creek, where he slept until morning. A deer had passed within a few feet of him, and he followed its tracks to safety.
