SOCIETY WEDDING
HcGREG OR—HOLBECHE BRIDE IN MAGNOLIA SATIN MAIDS' CREAM CHIFFON FROCKS A wedding of wide interest was celebrated yesterday afternoon, when Leslie Eileen Holbeche, only daughter of Mrs. E. H. Dane, .Remuera Road, and of the late Mr. Vincent Holbeche, was married to James Noel, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. A. McGregor, of Mount Linton, Southland. The ceremony, which was held in Sfc. Mark's Church, Remuera, was performed by the Rev. P. Houghton. Friends of the brido had decorated the church with flowers shading from cream to gold to harmonise with the bridal frocks.
The bride, who was given away by her grandfather, Mr. T. H. Barstow, wore a gown of magnolia satin embossed in a self-coloured floral design Charming in its simplicity, the frock had a double swathed corsage drawn together at the front of the waistline with a twisted knot of the same material, while a tiny cowl fold gave softness to the neck-line. A row of tiny buttons was worn at the back of the frock, and the skirt, which had a sunray fold in front, was fashioned to form a long flared train. The sleeves wore long, tight-fitting and pointed over each wrist to the finger tips. Her veil of cream tulle formed a second train and was caught at the top of the head with a single magnolia. Theso flowers were also featured in her trailing bouquet. Six Bridesmaids Attend In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Ewen, Miss Joan Campbell (Wellington), Miss Denise Wootton, Miss Gay Wilson, Miss Margaret Smith (Wanganui) and Miss Lorna Blundell (Masterton). They were dressed alike in frocks of magnolia chiffon over taffetas, fashioned in medieval style, with square neck-lines and tight-fitting bodices laced down tha front. The full skirts were cut to form short trains. Their quaint cone-shaped head-dresses of stitched magnolia chiffon were veiled with cream tulle falling to the shoulders and each attendant carried a bouquet of magnolias resting in long trails of green leaves. The bridogroom was attended by Mr. Robert Murio (Wellington), as best man, and by Mr. Norman Loisel (Gisborne), Surgeon-Lieutenant Alexander Home (H.M.a. Achilles), Mr. Daniel Bryant (Timaru), Mr. Gerard McQuilkin (Ashburton), and -Mr. Robert Whitehead (Southland) as groomsmen.
