TENDER DERAILED
MISHAP ON MAIN TRUNK AUCKLAND EXPRESS DELAYED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Monday A slight derailment occurred on the Main Trunk line this afternoon, resulting in the delay of the 3 p.m. express. The engine tender of the express left the rails at a road crossing south of Koputaroa, between Levin and Shannon, at about 5 p.m., and another engine had to be secured at Palmerston North, where the train arrived approximately an hour and three-quarters late. Little damage was done and the passengers were not aware that anything had happened iintil the engine stopped! The express is due in Auckland at about 9 a.m., instead of at the normal time of 7 o'clock.
The express from New Plymouth to Auckland was delayed for half an hour at Taumarunui and ran from there at the ordinary time of the Wellington express, in order to avoid delay to passengers from stations between Taumarunui and Auckland.
