NEW ZEALAND BRIDE ENGLISH NOVELIST'S SON [from our own correspondent] LONDON, Dec. 8 The wedding took place at the Church of Our Lady and St. Alphonsus, Hanley Swan, Worcester, on December 4, of Joan, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Atkinson, formerly of New Zealand, to Christopher, youngest son of Mr. W. W. Jacobs, the well-known novo list, and Mrs. Jacobs. Mr. Atkinson, who is a member of a well-know n New Zealand family, came to England some years ago, and now lives at Wetland Lodge, Upton-on-Severn, where the wedding reception was held. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. H. Wharton and the Rev. M. J. Richardson. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a white silk gown, embroidered with gold and flower tracery, and carried a sheaf of Madonna lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Ruth Atkinson, sister of the bride. Miss Betty McNabb, and the Misses Jennifer and Bronwen Jenkin, granddaughters of Mr. W. W. Jacobs. Mr. Woodhouse, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man. The church was decorated with bronze and white chrysanthemums, ferns and evergreens.

At the reception which followed, Mr. Atkinson received the guests, who included Mr. W. W. Jacobs and members of his family. The couple are spending a short honeymoon in the Wye Valley. They will live in London in future, where Mr. C. Jacobs will pursue his profession as an architect. FRASER—BENSON The marriage of Dorothy Esther, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Benson, of Epsom, to the Rev. Archibald James Thomas Eraser, curate of St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. J. Fraser, of Dunedin, was celebrated at St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, yesterday morning. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. P. Willis and Holy Communion was celebrated by the Very Rev. W. Fancourt, Dean of Auckland. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very charming frock of ivory satin cut on princess lines, fitting slimlv to the figure and having a full trained skirt. Her veil of embroidered tulle was pleated to form a coronet and was caught to the head with sprays of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. In attendance as bridemaids were Miss Georgina Benson, sister of the bride, and Miss Belle Daldy. They were dressed alike in frocks of forget-me-not blue taffetas cut on slender lines with full puffed sleeves caught at the elbow with pink rosebuds. They wore blue halo hats and each carried a posy of pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by the Rev. J. B. Rushworth as best man, and by his cousin, Mr. W. H. Johnston, as groomsman. Acting as ushers were the Rev. W. H. Beech and Mr. B. Carter. The organ music was played by Mr. John Tait. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Parnell tea kiosk, Mrs. Benson receiving in a smart navy bine and white floral frock and a navy picture hat. She carried a bouquet of shaded pink roses. Mrs. W. Johnston, aunt of the bridegroom, was in a soft grey frock and a grey hat trimmed with ospre.vs. Her bouquet was of autumn-tinted flowers. The bride travelled later in a two-piece Coronation blue suit with a matching halo hat. The bridal couple left by car for the Frauz Josef and Fox Glaciers en route to their new home at Milton, of which parish the bridegroom is the newlyappointed vicar. RATLEY—AITCHISON. The marriage took place on December 22 of Molly, youngest daughter of Mr. and the late Mrs. John Aitcbison, of Hawke's Bay, and Stanley Victor, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Ratley, London. When they return to in January Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Ratley will take up their residence at 23 Princes Street. RITCHIE—MOODY The wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Bramley, Surrey, of May Jov Duder, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Moody, Of Mount St. John Avenue, Auckland, and Dr. John Russell Ritchie, son of Dr. and Mrs. Russell Ritchie, of George Street, Dunedin. Canon C. H. Ritchie and the Rev. G. N. Selby-Lowndes officiated at the ceremony, wrote our London correspondent on December 11. The bride was given away by Mr. T. R. Thain, her brother-in-law. Her dress was an unusual gown of cream satin brocaded tapestry, designed in an oldworld style, witb a pearl-encrusted Juliet cap, and veil of cream tulle. She carried a bouquet of cream roses and lilies of the valley. Her matron of honour was her sister, formerly Miss June Moody, now Mrs. T. R. Thain. She wore a gown of ice-blue corded silk lace with head-dress of soft blue ospreys and carried a bouquet of shaded cyclamens. Dr. R. J. McGill, of Dunedin, was best man.

A reception was afterward held at Mr. and Mrs. Thain's home, Te Rangi, in Bramley. Guests present, including New Zealanders, were: —Miss Jean Wilson and Miss Joan Abel, both of Auckland, Mr. B. W. T. Ritchie, Timaru, Dr. R. B. Speight, Dunedin, Canon C. H. Ritchie, Rear-Admiral and Mrs. J. S. M. Ritchie, Mr. Nelson Duder, Mr. and Mrs. John Hawtin.

Dr. and Mrs. Ritchie left later for Switzerland, the latter wearing a black tailored suit, .with black velvet hat and furs. They plan to leave for New Zealand in February by the Waipawa, and will make their home in Dunedin.

MARRTAGE ARRANGED [from our own correspondent] APIA, Dec. 17 A wedding of considerable local interest will be celebrated on December Ml, when- Miss Pele Nelson, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Nelson, will be married to Richard, only.son of Hon. I. H. Carruthers, M.L.C. The prospective bridegroom is well known in football circles in Auckland, and last season captained the "Nelson's," the champion team in the Apia Rugby Union Association. A reception will be held at Tuaefu, the home of the bride's father.
