THE WAITEMATA AREA SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES Gross sales of current by the Waitenia t a Electric-Power Board for November increased by £684 over the previous November figures to £10,031, according to the report presented by the manager, Mr. A. Main, at the meeting of the board yesterday. The gross sales for the eight months ended November <'io amounted to £90,729, as against £76,089 for the corresponding period last year, an increase of £14,640.
New consumers connected with the board's system during the present month numbered 106, bringing the total up to 12,959. Engineering work had been carried out in the Henderson and Helensvillc districts, where an 11,000-volt extension and < one transformer had been erected along the Upper Waiwera Road at Wainui. The main line from Wayby to Wellsford in the Rodney district had been completed, together with the reticulation of the Wellsford township. Practically all the low-tension Work on the lino from Kaipara Flats to Wellsford had been completed, and an immediate start would be made with the Port Albert lines. The inspecting engineer of the Public Works Department had completed his annual inspection of the board's system, added Mr. Main, and he had reported very favourably on tho high standard of rural construction work being carried out by tho engineer. It was decided to congratulate the board's engineer, Mr. C. M. Gray. Tho engineer said that he anticipated heavy increases in load next winter, and lii.s recommendation that tenders be called for the supply of materials amounting to £s<io* was adopted.
