CLOSING CEREMONY
WHAKATANE HIGH SCHOOL [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Monday There was a good attendance at the prize-giving ceremony of the Whakatano High School, when the Rev. K. ' J. Wadmore presided in the absence of the chairman, Dr. J. C. Wadmore. Prizes and certificates were presented as follows: Dux.—Boys: J. Robb; girls, Sheila Simmons, Dr. Wadmore's general knowledge prizes: J. Robb and Mary Newton. Leaving certificates: D. Chambers and Esther, Cain. Intermediate certificates: L. Armstrong, T. Brown, P. Dickenson, C. Haultain, B. Keepa, E. Norris. Alison Hill, Helen Mitchell, Dorothy Reardon, Joy Rhodes, Nancy Righton. Melva Smith, Joy Wilson. Sports Prizes. —Senior steeplechase cup and medal: Charlie Green; fastest time and miniature enp, D. Chambers; Junior steeplechase cup and fastest time: Darcy Rankin. Football cup: John Shapley's team.
