CALF COMPETITIONS
NORTH AUCKLAND SCHOOLS [from ouk own correspondent] WHANG AREI, Monday Calf-judging competitions have been carried out at various native schools. The trophy donated by the Bay of Islands Dairy Company for the gchool which brought forward the best group of three calves was won by the Oranta native school with 'J37 points, Karetu and Waikare schools, equal, being second. OKOROIRE AWARDS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS The following were the prize-winners at the annual show of the Okoroire Boys and Girls' Calf-rearing Club: — Heifer Calves.—Light breed: Mario Andrealo, L; Olive Bellamy, '2\ Keith Whaipu, 3. Heavy breeds: June Sutcliffe, I; Grace Sutcliffe, 2. Pedigree bull calf: Alf. Andresen, X; Keith Howell, 2. Champion of champions cup: Olive Bellamy.
NORTH RODNEY GROUP GOOD TYPE OF ANIMAL - [from our own correspondent] WELLSFORD. Monday There were excellent entries in the School Calf Club parades held by the North Rodney group. At the Port Albert School there were four classes, and the judges, Messrs. Melville and Campbell, of Matakana, commented very favourably on the type of animal shown. The awards were: —Dairy type: Roy Marsh, 70 points, 1; Desmond Reid, 00, 2; Kelvin Carel, 3. Condition, handling and keeping of records: Desmond Reid, 107, 1; Roy Marsh, 07 2: Don Gubb, 80, 3; Brian Reid, 88, 4. Yearlings, dairy type: Desmond Reid 7M, 1- Verne Becroft and Wesley J»eal, 02, 2. Two-year-old cow in milk, judged on production by test, and by ordinary judging points: Ronald Winks, tto, t; Don Gubb, 78'j 2; Verne Becroft, 77, 3; Brian Reid, 73% 4 ' At the Te Arai Point School the judges were Messrs. CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE JUDGING AT WAIPU [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday The first championship parade of calves ever held at Waipu look place yesterday. Messrs. H. W. Crawford and H.
