PEBBLE FROM CATAPULT
CAR PASSENGER STRUCK ACTION OF YOUNG GIRL [by TELEURAPK OWN correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Monday A small wound on the chin, sufficiently serious to necessitate medical attention, was received by Mrs. Robert Wilson, of Ruawni, yesterday afternoon, when, while driving in an open car on the Dargaville-West Coast Road, she was struck by a pebble fired by a catapult from the back of a truck travelling in the opposite direction. The catapult was fired at the side curtains of the car by a 13-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the rear of the truck. The missile penetrated the celluloid of the side curtain and it was remarkable that no more serious injury resulted, as in addition to four adults there were two infant children in the car. Medical aid was immediately sought, as from the sound of the pebble striking the side curtain it was thought that Mrs. Wilson had been shot by an airgun or pearifle. Following upon police inquiries the truck was identified and the girl admitted her action, stating that she had used a small but fairly powerful rubber catapult.
