Philcox, formerly a wellknown flying member of the Auckland Aero Club, who has been in Australia for about three years, arrived bv the Awatea yesterday for a holiday in Auckland. Mr. J. H. Maggs, managing-director of United Dairies, Limited, London accompanied by Mrs. Maggs, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the Awatea from Svdney, on a visit to the Dominion. Mr. John Fuller, of Sydney, arrived by the A\vatea_ yesterday to spend Christmas in New Zealand. He was * accompanied by Mrs. Fuller and their family, and intends to spend his holiday on a motor tour of the Dominion. They are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. H. E. Herrick, who for the past five vears has been inspector in charge of the Land and Income Tax Office, Dunedin, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington, where he is to be promoted to the position of officer in charge of the Employment Tax Office. 'iT. Mr. R. J. Low, of Methven, was' presented with the Bledisloe Medal for 1937 at the diploma dav ceremony at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln. The medal is presented annually to the old student of the college has most distinguished himself in agriculture. Mr. L. W. A. Crawlev, who gained a post-graduate scholarship in classics at Auckland University College in 1933 and has since continued his studies at Trinity College. Cambridge, arrived by the Awatea from Sydney yesterdayMr. Crawley, who gained a classical Tripos in 1936, was recently appointed to the staff of the Geelone Grammar School, Melbourne. He will return to Melbourne after spending Christmai with his family in Auckland.
