Although the river is now falling and blue skies and cold weather have allayed anxiety, fears are held of an outbreak of tyohoid or cholera. Medical sup- _ plies are being augmented and the - city and Army medical services have bee:a ordered to stand by. The Forums of Caesar and Augustus * were flooded and the Forum of Mussolini was threatened. King Victor Emmanuel and Signor Mussolini separately visited the historic Milvian Bridge, all that is visible of which being the towers at either end. Boats saved 150 families at Sora, th« garden city zone, which is submerged. One hundred are homeless in country districts. In Rome alone there are 7000 homoless. As the rising floods spread 6Q,veral were, drowned in Rome and the pro- • ' rinces: The Italian Embassy to the Holy See notified persons invited that the reception next week had been cancelled bocause the Palace was flooded.
