' ' FIRST SECTION OPEN THIRANGI TO WAIATARUA The Titirangi-Waiatarua section of the Waitakere Scenic Drive was open to traffic on Saturday, and was well patronised by motorists. A large portion of this stretch of road is now metalled, and although a certain amount of cutting remains to be done, the formation of the drive as far as the West Coast Road is nearing completion. Beyond Waiatama the road can be negotiated for about a mile, at the end of which a remarkable view is obtained from an elevation of about 1500 ft. In addition to the Waitemata, Manukau and Kaipara Harbours, much of the Hauraki Gulf can be seen. A long strip of the Tasman Sea also is visible-
